· Involved in an upgrade project from Oracle 9i to Oracle 10g all on unix. This upgrade is also combining multiple instances into single instance.

· Main responsiblities are to provide support to various clients in order to support the operation of their Oracle, SQL Server and Sybase databases.
· At CGI we specialize in supporting database environments for various companies either remotely through dial up connections or by having DBA’s on site at the client locations.
· Currently I am working in our call centre providing day-to-day support of Oracle and SQL Server databases for various clients.
· My responsibilities at CGI, when not on site, include setting up standard site guide and monitoring scripts, backup and maintenance jobs, perform server upgrades and install new
databases.
· My work on the Call centre desk involves answering phones, solving various database problems that get reported to our intranet portal, trouble shooting error messages in database error logs
and handling any errors or requests our clients report to us. The errors range from the server will not start up to users not having correct access to database objects.
· I am also involved in modifying and creating documentation of standard tasks so the next time someone goes to do the same process it will be easier for them to do.
· I am regularly involved in data model reviews, from the logical diagram to the physical diagram to the implementation of the new tables.
· We specialize in Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server. We also have a few clients that have Sybase.
· We perform day-to-day monitoring of database servers.
· We perform backup and recovery of database instances.
· Most of our clients are supported remotely form our office with a variety of ways to connect to them.

· I was responsible for the day-to-day operation of the database environment for Oracle, SQL Server and Sybase.
· I was involved in the installation of new Sybase, Oracle and SQL Server databases.
· Solving performance and tuning issues with developers and end users.
· Documentation of standard procedures and publishing the documents to the intranet web site.
· Provide support for 17 Unix boxes with 38 Sybase servers, 35 Oracle servers and 4 Omni servers.
· Provide support for 2 NT boxes with 2 SQL Server databases used for the data warehouse from our Qbyte database
· One of my main projects was the upgrade from Sybase 11.0.3 and 11.9.5 to 12.0.
· Developed an application to track database growth on a monthly basis, and then allow reports to be run from the intranet.
· Implemented the use of the dbcc checkstorage command for faster consistency checks of all Sybase servers.

· Responsible for the maintenance of Oracle Designer.
· Establish and encourage the use of standards for how the Oracle Designer Tool should be used.
· Help projects evaluate their needs from the functional hierarchy level all the way to the creation of Entity Relationship diagrams and the creation of production tables.
· Perform the clean up and merging of all applications in designer to eliminate redundant and duplicate Metadata from the repository.
· Evaluate and plan the upgrade from designer 1.3.2 to 6.0
· Document the differences between the two versions of designer.
· Write scripts to correct errors in the upgrade process so no metadata in the repository is destroyed.

Main Database Administrator on a Truck dispatch application:
· Extensive operation (24 hours/day, 7 days/week), utilized 5 separate databases with 200 concurrent users and the largest database was 30 Gig in size.
· Selected hardware and performed capacity planning
· Performed an evaluation of SQL Server and Sybase to determine which database server to use for the Truck dispatch system. This involved setting up the servers from scratch and loading the
database environment in order for users to do acceptance testing.
· Implemented Sybase version 11.9.2 and Sybase Replication Server version 11.5.1 in 100 branches with 350 clients.
· Established standards for installs, backup strategies, user security and day-to-day monitoring of all Sybase servers.
· Created scripts for backups, dbcc’s, data copies and monitoring of database health.
· Support for 9 Unix, 5 NT and 50 Novell file servers located at head office and remotely through the WAN.
· Perform system testing, upgrades and end user support and installation.
· Set up and support of Omni Connect used against Model 204, Sqlbase, Sybase and Oracle.
· Performance and tuning of stored procedures, triggers and front-end applications.
